" What a wonderful time we had at three homes on Vancouver Is., this summer. The highlight was on Salt Spring Is., where we stayed with a retired couple high up on a mountain overlooking the water and vistas with dozens of birds and deer coming to visit. When they heard that it was my husband's birthday they suprised him with a cake, when we returned from dinner, and even a gift of their delicious smoked salmon. Instructions came with the salmon to eat it on a cold winter's day and remember the warm summer (and warm welcome we received)."
